The questions our guests ask most before their first trip to China.

VisasFlying from the US to Beijing and home again requires a Chinese tourist visa. Continuing on to a third country, like Japan or Korea? You can stay up to 10 days visa-free under the 240-hour transit policy.
Paying for thingsChina runs on mobile payments, and many shops no longer take cash. Before you fly, we help you link your Visa or Mastercard to Alipay.
Phone and internetGoogle, Gmail and many US apps don't work in China. An international eSIM or your carrier's roaming plan keeps you connected.
Time differenceBeijing is 12 hours ahead of New York during daylight saving time and 13 hours ahead in winter. All of China runs on one time zone.
WeatherSpring and fall are the most comfortable, with highs in the 60s and 70s °F. Summer highs reach the upper 80s; winter highs stay in the 30s.
